From Couch to 5K
Have you ever decided in a burst of inspiration that you are going to start jogging? Did you strap on your iPod, get 3 minutes down the road, and all but collapse into a hyperventilating puddle? Us too. The truth is, though, is that you can do it. You just have to start at the beginning. Training your body for an distance is very different than training your body for speed. It's about endurance rather than strength. So don't get discouraged and remember to be kind to yourself while you train. With motivation and consistent practice, you can achieve your goals.
If you are looking to run your first 5k race (3.1 miles) or if you want start running and don't know where to begin, we recommend trying the Couch to 5k Plan. It's a 10 week plan to get you going and keep you motivated. Happy trails!
